Veraltete, ungenutzte Dokumentationssyteme, überarbeitete Ärzte und durch lange Wartezeiten aufgehaltene, unzufriedene Patienten. Kurz gesagt, das deutsche Gesundheitswesen bedarf einer grundliegenden, strukturellen Modernisierung. Mit diesem Appell leitet der Bundesgesundheitsminister Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach die diesjährige FAZ-Konferenz zum Thema „Gesundheit und Ressourcen“ ein.

Wenig Digitalisierung trotz hoher Ausgaben

Nichtsdestotrotz stiegen im Jahr 2023 erneut die Ausgaben im Krankenhaussektor wie in keinem anderen Bereich. Wie kann es jedoch bei einer derartig stark ansteigenden Zufuhr an finanziellen Mitteln sein, dass die Modernisierung in Krankenhäusern nur schleppend voranschreitet? Der Kern der Problematik liegt in einem Mangel an den für die Digitalisierung notwendigen Reformen. So können beispielsweise die bundesweit gehandhabten und im Übermaß vorhandenen Patientendaten der Häuser nicht zentral zusammengefasst werden, was Innovationen im Bereich Digitalisierung nicht selten unmöglich macht und bereits Unternehmen wie Biontech aufgrund mangelhafter Voraussetzungen zu einem Ausbau im Ausland motiviert hat. Diese Bewegung möchte der Gesundheitsminister nun zur Mitte der Legislaturperiode angehen, um zukünftig Innovationen im Bereich Gesundheit den Weg zu ebnen.

Erfahrungen aus der Praxis

Die CEO von myScribe, Ira Stoll, durfte auf der Konferenz ebenfalls als Rednerin teilnehmen und präsentierte ihre Perspektive auf das deutsche Gesundheitssystem aus der Sicht einer Medizinerin mit Erfahrungen im Krankenhausalltag und heutiger Gründerin eines Startups im Bereich Digital Health. Sie bestätigte in ihrem Pitch die bereits von Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach geschilderte Situation des Gesundheitssektors. Überstunden waren in Ira Stolls Zeit als Ärztin an der Tagesordnung, während zeitraubende Prozesse wie die noch immer handschriftlich stattfindende Dokumentation von Patientendaten von den Mediziner*innen hingenommen werden mussten. Dieser Umstand bewegte Ira Stoll gemeinsam mit dem Full-Stack-Webentwickler Lars Stoll zur Gründung ihres Unternehmens myScribe, als Lösung für die Problematik der heute noch unstrukturiert und zeitintensiv erfassten Patientendaten. So ist die KI-gestützte Software des Startups bereits heute dazu in der Lage, selbstständig das Schreiben von Arztbriefen anhand zentral erfasster Patientendaten zu übernehmen und somit künftig einen notorischen Zeiträuber im Gesundheitssystem zu beseitigen.
